Vacuum Degassing For the Steel Industry
Vacuum processing of Molten Alloy and Carbon Steels is now an established practice for improving quality and consistency of the end product.
The Key Benefits may be summarized as follows;
> |
Reduction Of Hydrogen which almost eliminates cracking tendency in forgings. |
> |
Improving cleanliness of steel products by the elimination of hot metallic inclusions. |
> |
Improving the ease of achieving close chemical specifications |
> |
Reduction in the loss of valuable alloying elements |
Power Plant
The dynamic relationship between the vacuum pumping systems, condenser performance and turbine's back pressure is an important adjunction to the design requirements, and need careful consideration in the appraisal of plant overall performance. Since the consequence of inadequate removal of incondensable gases from the condenser increases the turbine's back pressure unnecessarily, thereby adversely affecting the turbine's heat rate and increasingly the dissolved oxygen content of the condensate causing corrosion problems in the downstream plant.
Therefore, it is critical to ensure that the Vacuum Pump Package suppliers understand this critical aspect of the process and is able to design their equipments to work for the application.
The Typical Vacuum Process In a Power Plant Includes;
> |
Condenser Water Box Priming which is the removal of trapped air pocket from condenser. |
> |
Centrifugal Pump Priming which is the lifting up of water column during the initial starting of the centrifugal pump and its subsequent extraction of air pocket from the suction water stream to the pump.
> |
Turbine Gland Exhausting which is the removal of mixture of air, condensate and steam off the turbine glands |
> |
Vacuum Degassing as the approach to remove dissolve gases from water-Deaeration |
> |
Vacuum Filtering to separate solids from water or other liquids |
